The Code of Many Colors Explained:
This system is designed for all LDS standard works. With only 7 basic colors (blue, red, green, purple, pink, orange and yellow), you will be able to effectively study more than 110 gospel topics. As you use The Code of Many Colors you will discover how easy it is to locate and memorize verse upon verse. LDS scripture marking will become fun and habit forming. The main objective of this system is to promote reading that encourages more pondering and deeper understanding of the content.
Instructions on how to use the Code of Many Colors Reference Card:
After you download and print the Code of Many Colors reference card, you will then use it as follows...

In the example below (1 Nephi 3:7) the principle of  “Commandments, Obedience (on the reference card)” has the strongest relation to this verse. With that decision, circle the “verse number” with the corresponding green round and highlight the “text” with the corresponding pink fill . Now, since this verse also pertains to the principle of “Faith, Hope…” we will place a green round with a yellow fill in the margin to represent this second principle . For verses with multiple principles involved, just list their corresponding symbol (round & fill) in the margin in descending order pertaining to their degree of relation to the verse. For example, you may decide that the principle of  “Straight and Narrow…” also relates to this verse, but not as much as the principle of  “Faith” – so you would place its symbol beneath that of the “Faith” symbol. Add as many symbols as you want. Enjoy Marking!
